he Pathani Samanta Mathematics Talent Scholarship (PSMTS) is a merit-based financial assistance program launched by the School & Mass Education Department, Government of Odisha, specifically designed to reward and support students who excel in mathematics The program generally splits into two pathways: an analytical entrance test (PMST) administered by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha for school-level students, and a direct merit scholarship portal application (PSMTS) handled by the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education for junior college students.

Key Benefits

The scholarship rewards exceptional math talent based on the academic level of the student: Classes 6 to 8 (Stage I - via PMST Exam): Provides financial aid and academic guidance directly to school-age students. Classes 9 to 10 (Stage II - via PMST Exam): Continued evaluation and assistance for high schoolers. Classes 11 and 12 (Stage III - via Merit Portal): A total of 1,000 top-performing students are selected statewide based on their Class 10 board exam scores. They receive ₹5,000 per year (distributed as ₹500 per month for 10 months).

Eligibility / Who Can Apply

To successfully apply for the Class 11 and 12 (Higher Secondary) merit scholarship, students must fulfill the following: Residency: Must be a permanent resident (domicile) of Odisha. School Medium: Must be actively studying in an Odia-medium Government, Aided, or Recognized Higher Secondary institution. Affiliation: The institution must be affiliated with the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha. Merit Cutoff: Selection is strictly drawn from a merit list of aggregate marks plus exceptional proficiency (typically at least 60%) in Mathematics from the Class 10 Board (BSE Odisha) Exam
